Quick and Easy Meditation to Balance Chakras

If you are going through a tough time in life right now, either physically or emotionally, and you can't quite put your finger on why, it may be because your chakras are out of balance and could use a re-alignment. While this may sound difficult to do, it is actually quite easy!

We have hundreds of chakras, or whirling energy centers, in our body. However, most focus on the 7 larger energy centers that start at the bottom of our tailbone, to the top of our head. When our chakras are out of alignment we may find ourselves out of whack in a variety of different ways.


We may feel emotionally unbalanced, like:

  • Unable to express our emotions

  • Being either too work or too play

  • Over-giving in our relationships

  • Feeling "ungrounded"

  • Overly critical of ourselves

  • Moody

  • Stuck in analysis paralysis or constant confusion

  • Unable to trust ourselves

  • Zoning out to an extent that isn't productive.

We may struggle with physical issues in our lives, such as:

  • Financial issues

  • Being able to provide yourself or your family with basic needs

  • Committing to our relationships, or attracting those who are committed to us

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Lack of follow through on tasks, projects, even passions

  • Inability to accept feedback

  • Unable to learn new things or accept novel ideas

By simply doing a meditation to balance chakras, you can bring your chakras back into balance and alignment! This meditation to balance chakras only requires a small commitment to do so, and for only 10 minutes a day. In addition, this meditation to balance chakras will help you pinpoint which energy centers need more work. So let's begin.

This meditation is a simple chakra guided meditation that you can do on your own at any time. To start, you first find a comfortable place to sit or lie down. If you choose to lie down, this is fine. But make sure you don't have anywhere to be afterwards, as you may fall asleep if that is what your body needs.

Once you have found your comfortable place and position, close your eyes and take three deep breaths to center yourself.

Your energy is likely scattered across the various areas of your life - discord in your relationships, to-do lists nagging to be done, etc. So take a moment to ask that wherever your energy is at this time, the energy that serves you be returned to you, and the energy that no longer serves you be released to the universe to be transmuted to positive energy.

For the remainder of this meditation to balance chakras, you may select a single color of your choice to use for the flower, or you may use the flower color I mention as we go through the meditation. It is a personal preference, so do what feels most natural, fun, or preferable to you. You can always change it at any time.

Focus your attention on your tailbone where your root chakra is located. Imagine a 6 petaled red flower opening up in your root chakra. Take your time with this. Then turn the flower 6 times clockwise to open the energy center and allow it to expand and radiate. Sit with this feeling as long as you would like before you move onto the next chakra.

As you go through this meditation to balance chakras, notice how each of your chakras feels. Was the flower easy to open? Was it easy to turn the petals? Does it feel completely clear? The answers to these questions let you know which chakras are more balanced or unbalanced at this time. If there is resistance, your chakra is likely blocked to whatever degree of resistance you feel. The stronger the resistance to opening or turning, the stronger the block to the chakra. When you sense resistance or chakra blockages, simple imagine the block being released from your chakra to the universe.


Each day will be a bit different. Different chakras will feel more open or closed depending on what is going on in your life, energy, mind, emotions, etc. The idea is not to beat yourself up about it. Only to observe, knowing that in the observance and in the daily practice of this meditation to balance chakras, your chakras are aligning and balancing. The more you practice, the more open and balanced your chakras will be.

Next, move your attention from the root chakra and flower up to your sacral chakra, located a couple inches below your navel. Here, imagine a 6 petaled orange flower opening up. Take your time with this, enjoy the feeling of your chakras opening and strengthening. When you are ready, turn the flower 6 times clockwise to open the energy center and allow it to radiate. Sit with this feeling of expansiveness for as long as you would like. When you are ready, move on to the next chakra.

Now, move your attention to your solar plexus chakra, located a few inches above your navel. Imagine a 6 petaled yellow flower opening in your solar plexus center. Take your time with this. Turn the flower 6 times clockwise to open your solar plexus chakra and allow it to be filled with positive energy. Sit with this feeling for as long as you would like. Then move on to the next chakra.

Move your attention from the solar plexus chakra up your spine and body to the heart chakra, located in the center of your chest close to your heart. Imagine a 6 petaled green flower opening up. Take your time with this. Then see the flower rotate clockwise 6 times to open up your heart center. Enjoy the feeling of the rotations, and sit with the feeling of the opened heart chakra for as long as you would like.

Continue up your spine to your throat, where you will find your throat chakra. Imagine a 6 petaled blue flower opening in your throat chakra. Sit with this for as long as you like. Then imagine the blue flower rotating clockwise 6 times. Enjoy the feeling of the rotations, the feeling of your chakra opening up, of the energy growing stronger within it.

Take your attention up to the center of your forehead where the third eye chakra is located. Imagine a 6 petaled purple flower opening in your third eye. Enjoy this feeling for as long as you would like. Rotate the purple flower 6 times clockwise, and enjoy the feeling of energy coursing through it and through your body, the feeling of your channels opening. Sit with this feeling as long as you would like.

Move your attention further up to the crown of your head. See a 6 petaled white flower opening on top of your head. Sit with this for as long as you would like. Then imagine the flower rotating clockwise 6 times. Enjoy the feeling of opening up your energy field to the wisdom of the universe. Sit with this for as long as you would like.

At this point, it comes down to personal preference on what you would like to do next. I often like to continue on with my day at this point. My energy channels are open, and I can feel the energy flowing through me, I feel lighter at each step. Many, however, do not like to leave their meditation space with their chakra centers open. There are certainly times when I close mine as well.

So try out both options when you meditate to balance chakras. Keeping them open, and closing them as well. See what you prefer.

To close your chakras you simply repeat the meditation in reverse. You start with the white flower in your crown chakra. You rotate it counter-clockwise 6 times. Then you close the flower and move to the third eye chakra.

At the third eye chakra you see the purple flower, turn it counter-clockwise 6 times, and then close the flower.

You move next to the throat chakra where you turn your blue flower counterclockwise 6 times, and then close the flower.

And so on through the heart chakra, solar plexus chakra, sacral chakra, and root chakra.

And that is all there is to it! This meditation to balance chakras only takes 10 minutes, sometimes even less to do each day. It may seem long in this post, but once you get the hang of it, it will be a quick practice you can do every day to keep yourself, and your life, in balance. And all you need is your mind and yourself!
