How to find clients who are ready to act

How to expand your reach and find clients who are ready to act

Your business is chugging along nicely, your action plan is so solid it's ready to be carved in stone, and you're hitting every nail on the head without missing a beat. You know what you want your future to look like, you know who your audience is and you're doing your best to get in front of them so you can inspire them to take action. You truly want to help your audience, your heart sinks when you can't. In fact, for you, life and business are much more about helping others than they are about making money for yourself.

But your audience isn't taking action, they aren't taking that bite. Which means, they stay rooted to the ground right where they are. They never get to be recognized for their talents the way they deserve to be. They stay hidden in the shadows of who they could've been. And it means you don't get to fulfill your personal desire of supporting and helping people realize their full potential. You see the bulls eye they could hit, but they aren't even aiming at the right target.

It can be so uplifting and encouraging when we're able to help someone who we know could be scaling higher mountains. If you're making all the right moves, but aren't getting the enthusiasm you expected, here are some suggestions! Let's assume you are a marketing or PR consultant. You could:

  • Keep pounding the pavement by banging on doors until your audience listens. It does take at least 10 touches before people are ready to listen, after all.

Or you could...

  • Do for yourself, what you want to do for others. For example, if you are a marketing or PR consultant who wants to help people land podcast interviews, get some podcasts interviews for yourself. Then advertise to the podcast listeners that you can help them do the same. There is no story more compelling to listeners than a story by someone who's done what they wish they had.

  • Network with people in your area of expertise. Ask them how they were able to find clients who are ready to act. How do they target the right individuals? Where do they find them? How do they speak to them when they meet them?

  • Provide lists of resources your audience can depend on. This positions you as the expert. Taking the PR/marketing consultant example, you could create a blog post that list podcasts by industry that your audience can apply to be guest speakers on.

Doing for yourself what you want to do for others will make you feel more confident about your service/solution.  Your sales scripts will roll off your tongue because you now have the experience of doing what you offer for yourself. The hesitation you used to have will disappear. You know your offer brings results, it's how it brought your potential client to your sales call.

It also gets your voice out there. More publicity will help you recognize your impact because you're reaching a larger audience by using a different medium than your usual.

Learning from others in your industry will help you more effectively reach and connect with your audience. You'll actually get to work with people who are ready to act vs. speaking to a crowd of eager ears but idle hands. When you engage people who are ready to act, you can feel good about your work and know you are making a real impact on someone's life and business.

Right now, you're pounding the pavement and you're not getting many results. If you keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep getting the results you're getting. Nothing will change for you. The stagnation you see in your audience right now, is the same stagnation that will be reflected in your own life. With your current plan, you might find a gem here and there. But with these new approaches, you could get access to a whole heaping vault of gems instead!
